After all the debates surrounding her won as Miss World Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais, the exotic French-Filipina from Muntinlupa City bagged first runner-up, the highest win of the Philippines in the Miss World pageant.

Replicating the runner-up finish of Evangeline Pascual in 1973, Gwendoline proved all her detractors wrong.An unconventional beauty, Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais stood out amongst the more than 100 candidates through her well-mannered elegance and knock-out intelligence.

Crowned as the first titlist for the new franchise holder of the Miss World pageant in the country, she sure has ignited interest of Filipinos to Miss World, the oldest and largest among the four major international beauty tilts.

Winning the crown is Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela, a 22-year old human resource graduate. The second runner-up is from Puerto Rico.

This has been a great year for the pageant-lover Philippines as earlier this year, Shamcey Supsup also won third-runner in the Miss Universe pageant, the more popular and widely publicized American-organized pageant. Miss World is the British Commonwealth counterpart.
