Fans of Veronica Roth‘s bestseller Divergent are now going gaga over the film adaptation announced to be released on a tentative date: March 21, 2014. This was confirmed by producers from Summit Media, as reported by Latino Post.
As of writing, the only official & confirmed casting is Shailene Woodley playing the lead female role of Beatrice “Tris” Prior. Filming is set next month, April of this year, in…where else, Chicago.
Speculations on casting of other roles are now rampant, as auditions are now being held, and fans are obviously going ecstatic. There are reports that Oscar winner Kate Winslet has already signed a deal for the film, playing the chief villain Jeanine Matthews of the Erudites. There are also reports claiming that she’ll play the ass-kicking Natalie Prior, Tris’ mom.
But what fans are all gushing about is the rumors that it was already final that I Am Number Four actor Alex Pettyfer was chosen to play Tobia aka Four, Tris’ hot and good-looking love interest. Jeremy Irvine and Lucas Till are two other actors reported to have auditioned for the said role.
Except for Woodley, all other casting reports are still highly speculative, noted by a report by Variety that Summit Media is still exploring options with older actors playing for Tobias.
